Customer Information
Accounts/ Establishment Terms & Conditions
All consignments of cargo must be allocated to an account or paid for at or before
the time of shipping. We recommend that you establish an account if you expect to
be shipping cargo on a regular basis. Upon establishing an account with Perkins
Shipping, you will be required to understand and agree to our terms and conditions
of trading. Account application forms (business and private) are available from

Cargo Acceptance/ Cut-Off Times
In order to provide an efficient shipping service for all customers, Perkins Shipping
has in place strict ‘cut-off times’. These represent the latest time that cargo
can be delivered to our terminals for particular voyages/destinations. Cut-off times
are normally two working days before the sailing date. Darwin terminal hours are
from 7:30am to 3:45pm Monday to Friday. We are closed on weekends and public holidays.
Schedules
Normal Coastal Schedules can be found on the
Domestic Schedules page. Any other enquiries can be directed to the Coastal
Cargo office.
Freight Rates
Freight rates vary according to different locations. All general dry cargo is charged
on the greater of the cubic measure or the weight in tons of the cargo.
Back-loading Cargo / Storage
Freight to be shipped to Darwin from Coastal Communities must be consigned appropriately
and the necessary documentation (interim receipt) fully completed. Cargo must be
clearly marked with forwarding details and if possible contact phone numbers. All
cargo must be paid for or allocated to an account for payment at or before the time
of shipping. Goods not collected from our Darwin terminal within five working days
of arrival will incur storage charges.
Correct Consignment of Cargo
All documentation for outgoing and back-loading cargo must be completed correctly.
Should incorrect account details be provided on the interim receipt, a $50.00 fee
would apply to have the invoice transferred to another account.
Collection of Cargo
Collection of cargo from Darwin, Gove and Groote Eylandt can be arranged by contacting
the applicable terminal. All cargo delivered to coastal communities must be collected
from the landing craft on arrival by yourself or your authorised representative.
Perkins Shipping does not operate terminals at these communities and does not accept
responsibility for lost or damaged cargo.
Conditions of Carriage
Our conditions of carriage are printed on the back of all Perkins Shipping interim
receipts and tax invoices. Alternatively, please refer to

Insurance

goods are carried subject to the terms and conditions of our Conditions of Carriage.
